From the Cape Flats to Crafted Excellence

Ridge & Soul began with a realisation.

I grew up on the Cape Flats in a home built on hard work and resilience. Skincare wasn’t part of the conversation. My father washed his face with water, dried it, and got on with his day. I did the same. That was normal.

But I saw something different through my brother.

As he pursued acting, he became intentional about how he presented himself. There were no real skincare options for men, and certainly none designed for men of colour, so he used what was available. Even then, the shift was undeniable. His skin improved. His confidence changed. He carried himself differently.

That stayed with me.

Years later, after building my own routine, I realised something was still missing. Premium skincare existed, but not for us. Not thoughtfully formulated for melanin-rich skin. Not designed to address excess oil, uneven tone, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs with precision.

In a country where the majority of men are men of colour, that gap could not be ignored.

So I built what I couldn’t find.

After years of saving and refining the vision, I partnered with one of South Africa’s leading cosmetic manufacturers to develop high-performance formulations crafted specifically for our skin.
